The visitor’s orientation centre at Chittorgarh is designed by understanding and reinterpreting the architectural attitudes of David Chipperfield. Lying between the ancient fort and the relatively new village, the centre aims to provide a space for community interaction for tourists and locals alike. Spaces such as public verandah, gallery, courtyards, cafe, lounge etc. bring the community together. Strategies such as orienting the building towards the expansive view of the city, creating a variety of public spaces, and using climatic strategies inspired by vernacular architecture have been implemented to truly capture the essence of Chittor.
