Tranquil Vestiges

The project conceptualizes a raw, rustic, and deliberately unfinished environment, symbolizing the acceptance of barrenness, imperfection, and incompleteness. Inspired by the serenity found within ruins, it embraces the beauty of incomplete structures. Drawing from Mandu’s architectural heritage, the design reinterprets the traditional stone groin vaults, creating fragmented forms that intertwine with bamboo umbrella-like structures. These elements coalesce to form diverse spaces, reminiscent of scattered fragments unified by temporary interventions. Skylights punctuate the quarter groin modules, accentuating the sense of incompleteness while infusing the space with natural light. This unique expresion not only celebrates imperfection but also enriches the spatial and tectonic experience of the project.
