The focus of the studio was to study various architectural attitudes of Laurie Baker towards physical, ephemeral, organizational, conceptual substances and towards making and detailing by an analysis through a diary of attitudes and then testing them through various design exercises like making a cube installation, a maze and a trophy. The learnings from these were applied in designing a bookstore and a cafe, in Udaipur's context. The primary aim was to reduce the cost in every way possible, attempted through materiality, local construction techniques, weather response etc.
