studio as a Threshold

Learning at CEPT operates on two levels: one that is intended formally, and another that is informal, emerging unpredictably through interactions with peers. This project investigates the blurred boundaries between these two modes of learning, the formal and the informal, and delves into their interrelationship. Insights into this dynamic are drawn from an analogy wherein experiments have been conducted to understand the parallels between ‘heavy and ‘light’ in relation to the formal and informal. Elaborating on the analogy, think of formal learning as the foundation of a building-structured, designed, and purposeful. Informal learning, in contrast, is like the air within the building - it’s everywhere, less tangible, but it shapes the environment and the experiences of those within it. Both are essential to the overall experience, and understanding how they interact can lead to a more holistic and enriched learning experience.
