The design of the learning institution in mandvi port, based on the concept of "ABSORPTION," focuses on creating an environment that integrates the natural surroundings with the learning process, it focuses on harmonizing with the region’s rich maritime heritage. The architecture features open, flexible spaces that encourage immersion in the craft, with large windows and transparent walls that bring in natural light and connect students to the outdoor environment. The spaces emphasises on the range of absorption of people and natural light. The most absorbed being the workshop space and least being the research and studio group learning space. The use of raw materials such as wood and metal creates a tactile, sensory experience, fostering a deeper connection between students and the materials they work with. The layout absorbs the flow of activities, allowing for smooth transitions between areas dedicated to instruction, fabrication, and relaxation, while promoting a collaborative atmosphere. The overall design aims to absorb and reflect the essence of boat-making, supporting both hands-on learning and the exchange of ideas.
