Tanka, a skill development institute at Kapadwanj

The studio explores the essence of design and tectonics through exercises focusing on intangible, social, cultural, and contextual dimensions. These insights culminate in a final project situated in Kapadwanj, a site with a rich cultural context and tight intervention constraints. The program involves designing an institute housing workshops, administrative spaces, and a research department. To address the site's challenges, a reversible, modular system was developed, drawing inspiration from the historic Kund Vaav. This approach ensures adaptability, respects the site's cultural heritage, and meets functional needs, creating a design that harmonizes with its environment while offering contemporary functionality.
