The studio delves into the deeper aspects of design, emphasizing its social, cultural, and contextual significance. Through various exercises, students explore these dimensions, ultimately culminating in a final project located in Kapadwanj, a site known for its vibrant cultural heritage. The Kapadwanj Project in Gujarat aims to create an institute with workshops, a library, research center, public toilet, and tea kiosk. The design responds to the site’s contrasting edges: one bordering the Kund and the other facing a busy street. The outer edge uses rigid brick walls to balance privacy and openness, while the inner edge features a lightweight bamboo-steel structure, blurring the boundary with the Kund.
