Synergetic Haven: An Oasis of Focus and Connection Amid

The aim of this project is to utilize the qualities possessed by different objects which are otherwise thought to be mundane. Objects are selected and their qualities are chosen to make abstract hybrid objects and host-parasite models at a smaller scale. These qualities are then taken forward to an architectural scale to design a workspace in one of Ahmedabad’s busiest areas, Manek Chowk.

This image shows how one would want to seek refuge while facing work stress

These are the chosen objects whose qualities were found to be interesting and have been used for further design

Qualities from objects like radio and stamp have been used to make this host-parasite model

Qualities of the binoculars and the radio have been taken for this host-parasite model

These images show how the qualities of the host-parasite models were translated to make the chunk model

These images show the relation of the building to its chaotic surroundings in Manek Chowk

These floor plans show how the building, divided in three parts, is connected by a central area and how these parts consist of multiple shells

The zoomed in views show how some of the pockets in the middle shell are used as isolated work spaces and others as informal seating and gathering spaces which help the employees escape from the stressful work environment and seek temporary refuge

The outer shell has multiple openings that are strategically placed such that rather than revealing everything that is inside they reveal specific moments from certain angles
