Gota stands at the cusp of change - wedged between aspiration and affordability. It attracts first-time homeowners from the old city, young working couples, and aging parents who migrate with families in pursuit of “a better life.” But Gota, like much of urban Ahmedabad, is dominated by an anthropometric housing market—a system where for instance, the number of rooms is used as the metric of value. Regardless of how people live, gather, breathe, or pause, a house as it must de-facto feel homely, the project is rethought from an anthropomorphic value.
'Gharni Vaat' is a housing project where individual, shared and communal experiences are spatially accounted for—beyond the metrics of square footage, an atmosphere.
Key Idea: Experience per Sq Ft > Room Count per Sq Ft
