The Treaty of Fragments: Integrating the Urban Fabric

The project, developed as a metro station is located at the SMS Hospital junction as defined by the phase II construction plans set forth by the city of Jaipur. The site is observed as an amalgamation of distinct contextual relationships, with each building being unique both in terms of function as well as architectural language. The vision for the project thus arises from this key observation hoping for the station to be embedded within this fragmented character of the site, borrowing activities and languages from each building to form borders rather than boundaries further developing a seamless transition from the existing buildings towards the metro and vice versa. This has been achieved through an understanding of architectural elements, spatial configurations, and functions of the identified fragments and further implemented as part of the metro station. It is in this contextual relationship that the station finds its character, a language that emerges from the site itself.
