Ventilation in Motion : A Panel-Led Anganwadi Retrofit

The project retrofits an Anganwadi in Vanjaravas, Ahmedabad, enhancing its ventilation, lighting, and usability while maintaining its existing structure. A raised roof with rotatable pastel-colored panels enables cross-ventilation, addressing the region’s hot, semi-arid climate. Structural columns support the roof, ensuring stability while improving spatial organization by separating circulation zones from learning areas and creating display opportunities for children’s work. Modular panels provide flexibility, allowing for seasonal adjustments to airflow and light. Using materials like GI sheets with particle board insulation ensures durability, thermal comfort, and ease of assembly. The design transforms the poorly ventilated space into a vibrant, climate-responsive environment, fostering comfort, playfulness, and community engagement for children and caretakers.
