FLOOD BLOOM

The project aims to mitigate temporary flood issues during the monsoon season by using the standardized water bag to collect rainwater in smaller quantities to create a barricade of flexible form to prevent flood water from entering the house. The design for the selected housing of Vatva, an urban poor neighborhood is made of multiple coexisting systems. Water bags are affordable, reusable & recyclable plastic bags that can be used anywhere. The principle of water pressure allows it to function as a sandbag while allowing rainwater harvesting. The project also explores the idea of expansion at the settlement level.
