The experience of Sacred places is to lead us toward higher states of consciousness, where we can reflect and connect more with ourselves. Nature is something beyond our comprehension, where we surrender to supreme energy. Gardening is an activity that directly connects us to nature. Gardening itself is a meditative act, where We observe other life forms having the capability of transformation. In urban areas, we have forgotten about what it means to be a part of the community and where our food comes from. Program intervention with the existing building helps to reduce this disconnection we experience. It also responds to Gandhiji’s ideals of simplicity, truth, and self-reliance. The design intervention uses a Sunken double clerestory place which allows multiple possibilities for the congregation activities and creates an extension for various activities happening in the existing site. The movement of natural elements creates spaces lively and interactive, while the above space is being used for vertical gardening.
