Shadow Tales- Seeking the Dark

Shadow Tales is a school landscape project that works with the light and shadow on the site. It aims to provide a surreal experience to the users-particularly the children. As the building drops its strong shadow, the landscape balances it out through the softer ones. Due to the harsh sun of Ahmedabad, searching for shade becomes the need of time. The project considers the hiding points for children to protect them from the sun. However, this becomes an opportunity to create active spaces with interesting shadow patterns. The shift in seasons brings interesting changes in the landscape. This attracts users’ attention. Along with the comfortable open play areas, children tend to observe the changing landscapes with colors and textures. Shadow tales also allow children to develop soft skills such as orienting through the spaces, decision-making, and sensory development.
