Prajna- A Place for Debate and Discussion

Prajna, situated next to the Bio-Nest Building at AU, is a multifunction space acting as an extension of CEPT for student activities. Intended as a discussion space, the design process led to exploring various forms of discussions. The design allows many of those forms, from a discussion with self in the reading room to a small group discussion like a jury or pin-up and to a college general body meeting. This is made possible using the kinetic element, which opens up the space from 3 sides, completely redefining the experience and use of the spaces.

A 1:1 cube construction exercise which acted as an introduction to kinetics in architecture. A studio project from the past batches is retrofitted and constructed in 1:1 providing hands on experience with materials and the process.

A piece of music in relation with a the assigned natural element is selected. The emotional and sensual experience evoked by the music is then used to develop a conceptual narrative for the given space.

Deconstruction of a cube using sketches and models is done in order to derive a kinetic movement and form for the kinetic structure.
