Woven Legacy - Textile Awareness Centre (Prasad Mill)

Spatial Transformation of Prasad Textile MIll Compound into Textile Awareness centre
Prasad Textile Mill is a frozen chapter in the history of textile mill, which consists of a concrete building that was once used as an administrative office and is surrounded by industrial sheds, some of which have fallen over time, creating a large open space in the centre. These clusters are readapted to create a Textile Awareness Centre in Ahmedabad, where one can be inspired, involved, and informed about Gujarat’s Textile Arts and Crafts. This textile centre focuses on textiles as vegetation/plantation, textiles as industry, and textiles as art and crafts. As one meanders in site, the centre curates itself through light, water body, window, stair, ceiling and landscape in spatial transformations. The Spatial journey starts with the unknown, the  journey is most exciting when unexpected things are encountered. The whole space is a part and parcel of nature. Dialogues of spaces in a silence takes place.
