TALES of DETAILS (and of those that VEILS)

The studio rigorously focused on decoding selected buildings constructed in Ahmedabad between 1930 and 1980. The first stage, through a detailed analysis of the details of Community Science Center, demonstrates that exposed construction required new ways of conceptualizing and making. The essay, further building on it, argues that some architects of exposed construction in the mid 20th century were aiming to eliminate the unnecessary decorative moldings and were trying to change the nature of the junctions through the act of detailing.
