The following spreads are from two of the three modules that comprised the studio this semester. The first module was a reading seminar - an introduction to modernity in architecture. The second module focused on developing the building biography of the DAV School in Jamshedpur, where construction practice and materiality of the early 20th century was explored. In the third module, the task was to curate an architectural catalogue, whose analysis was anchored in the theoretical framework of Jiat-Hwee Chang’s paper, A Genealogy of Tropical Architecture: Colonial Networks, Nature and Technoscience, and connecting it to the case of Jamshepur.
