Jamshedpur: Building Biography and Approch to Modernity

The study decodes the architecture produced in the industrial town of Jamshedpur during the colonial times. The biography of the D-Type Bungalow aims  to  interpret the built form in terms of its method of construction, materiality, stylistic influences and architectural significance. The catalogue is curated as a visual expression of the architectural modernity as observed in the buildings of Jamshedpur. The theoretical framework used in the catalogue is inspired by the work of Peter Scriver and Amit Srivastava in their book, 'India: Modern Architectures in History'.
