Improvisation in art deco: Case of Dharmaj Clock Tower

The study is divided in two parts, first part is to decode the clock tower building of Dharmaj Village in Gujarat and second part of the study is to place it in larger context of architectural history. The clock tower building, being one of the first art deco buildings of rural area indicates the globally connected networks of the village and at the same time it is a representative of the struggle of constructing it. The second part of study is an exhibition to bring construction method and semiotics of this building to the public realm.
