URBAN ECOLOGICAL NEXUS

This project reimagines the interface between urban development and ecological landscapes at the edge of Govardhan Sagar Lake, Udaipur. It addresses the contrast between a densely inhabited urban edge and a biologically significant riparian corridor. Through ecological restoration, community engagement, and sustainable spatial planning, the design aims to heal degraded ecosystems while providing immersive, inclusive spaces for people. The proposal establishes an Urban Eco park as a living landscape that combines biodiversity restoration with public experience. It emphasizes preserving and enhancing riparian vegetation, treating edge pollution, and creating sensitive access points for community interaction. Programmatic zones include reed-bed filtration, bird habitat zones, rain gardens, spiritual groves, permaculture gardens, and floating wetlands. By integrating habitat creation with public spaces, this project demonstrates a replicable model for balancing urban pressures with ecological resilience—ensuring long-term sustainability for both nature and society.
