Residence in Divar Island, Goa

Divar Island is situated in the Mondovi River, a short ferry ride from Old Goa. The dwellings here have laterite stone walls, lime plaster finishes, and sloping roofs with Mangalore tiles. Social conventions shape the architectural backdrop, with distinct locations symbolizing different cultures or social layers of hierarchy. This project takes place on one of the sites we investigated in Divar, on the banks of the Khazan River, which are community-owned wetlands. The project is designed in a way that one can experience existing things of a site, like contours through levels, vegetation through courtyard, design also emphasis on developing circulations around the tree for better user experience.
