Krittitva_The Art Café

The town hall Flyover is also known as the Kavinanalal flyover is called an elevated BRTS corridor. The project is inspired by the Artist Kavinanalal who was a poet and from the art form of the bridge itself, having paintings along the elevation. Kritittiva- The Art Cafe gets its name from the Sanskrit word with its meaning translated to be Creating. The Project is Placed at a distance of 300mm from the Purushottam Mavlankar Marg, from where the approach lies. The Art cafe consists of an art display area where one enters and walks through the space to reach the cafe, relishing which one can exit. The Design is based on the theory of REVERSE PANOPTICON which symbolizes the idea of creating a focal point, which is then translated into the plan. The space is a culmination of multiple contrasts Geometry, Color, Materials, Function, and Spatial Segregation. The Contrasting facades in the space are placed based on the function and the site context, with the glass facade facing the Gujarat college and the sheer concrete facade pushing one to look inwards forming a neutral muted background for the displayed art. The Display Panels are designed to move in the space, forming a dynamic space for every time the user enters.
