This project includes redesigning a table lamp for college going students, keeping in mind the cost, longevity and ergonomics in a non-mainstream material. The materials chosen are waste denim stiffened using a bioplastic and scrap metal. Epoxy resin is used to substitute a degradable bioplastic. All materials used to manufacture denim products such as jeans can be put to use after the product cannot be used anymore. The final prototype includes a detachable lampshade, used for task lighting as well as a nightlight and runs on a rechargeable lithium battery. All electric components are concentrated inside the lampshade itself.
