Dokiyu

Throughout the filmmaking studio, I learned how to translate emotions, ideas, and narratives into visual form by understanding the grammar of cinema—framing, sound, pacing, and storytelling. I explored different stages of filmmaking, from scripting and storyboarding to shooting and editing, which helped me think critically about composition and audience engagement. For my final film Dokiyu, I began by researching rural life and personal memories, then developed a script centered around a young boy’s perspective in a Gujarati village. I focused on capturing subtle moments, using natural light and sound to create an intimate, grounded atmosphere. The process involved iterative feedback, on-location shoots, and carefully crafted edits to bring out the emotional depth of the story.
