Continuum - Tranquility of Oasis

The architectural design intent for the interior transformation of Chumbi Retreat, the existing resort in Pelling, Sikkim, integrates the interlocking concept while incorporating exterior vernacular materials within the interior spaces to evoke a contextual and immersive experience. By seamlessly blending indigenous materials like stone, wood, and other local elements typically found in the resort's exterior architecture, the aim is not only to create a harmonious connection between the indoor and outdoor environments but also to establish a cohesive flow between spaces while enhancing visual interest to evoke a sense of unity and continuity. This method not just honors Pelling's local identity and cultural legacy but also instills a genuine sense of location, enabling guests at Chumbi Retreat to establish a profound connection with the surrounding environment while enjoying the comfort of the resort's indoor areas.
