Sangam- A resort driven by the Nepalese cohesive spirit

The design concept centers on embodying the cultural harmony and interdependence of Mirik’s diverse communities, particularly highlighting the Nepalese community’s significant presence. To understand Mirik is to understand its history and the story of its people. The Nepalese migrants underwent a journey of hope, resilience and adaptation to become one with the Indian town of Mirik. Drawing inspiration from the seamless coexistence of various cultural groups such as the Chhetris and the Sherpas in the town, the design aims to create an immersive environment that reflects this unity spatially. The design will also acknowledge the town’s historical development around tea gardens, showcasing how economic opportunities fostered cohesion. By integrating these cultural and historical narratives, the design seeks to offer a space that not only honors Mirik’s unique blend of traditions and backgrounds but also encourages continued peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among its inhabitants. The intent is to create an environment that seamlessly blends in with the cultural context of Mirik, a town with a diverse set of cultures that co-exist beautifully.
