MaaYa is an interactive public installation that blends storytelling and mechanical design to reveal the hidden science behind the twinkling of stars.Challenging the popular myth that stars shimmer on their own, Maaya uses fluid-filled, light-distorting containers, activated by a pulley-based foot mechanism, to demonstrate atmospheric refraction—the real cause of this illusion. Through poetic movement, layered light, and audience engagement, it transforms a cosmic phenomenon into a tangible, playful experience. Designed for outdoor public spaces, Maaya invites people of all ages to discover, question, and reconnect with the skies in a new light.
