RESPITE | An outdoor bench

Respite is a seating element designed for the Eames plaza at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The idea was to design a bench, inspired by the design philosophy and ideology of famous American Architect and Industrial designer, Charles Eames. The concept was to design a bench which would not only serve as seating element, but would also serve as a medium of rejuvenation. The name 'Respite' comes from the idea of rest/relief from one's monotonous schedule which was explored intensively through the design of the bench. To compliment its design further, the inspiration was taken from NID's logo itself.
