the film I chose to focus on is "The Great Gatsby" for its strong character development. The characters, especially Nick Carraway, are deeply explored, making the film a compelling study of human nature. This led me to draw parallels between Nick and Vidura from the Mahabharata also known as the Dasiputra, prime minister and the counselor of mahabharat, as both exhibit wisdom, and integrity, and play pivotal roles in their respective narratives. Inspired by Vidura's character and role, I designed my space to reflect his essence. The first space is modeled after Vidura's workspace, featuring a baithak for formal discussions, followed by his personal workspace and library. Partial partitions subtly separate this area, offering privacy without isolation, mirroring Vidura's balance between public duty and personal reflection. The second space is an informal discussion area, akin to Vidura's after-work discussions. It includes a bar, low-height sofas, a pool table, and a fireplace, creating a relaxed atmosphere conducive to informal yet important discussions, reflecting Vidura's multifaceted personality and responsibilities. The space also represents how both Nick and Vidura used to indulge in luxury. Both spaces are inspired by the sets of "The Great Gatsby," featuring elements like art deco style, chandeliers, and a specific color scheme, adding a touch of glamour and elegance to the space.
