Flixera - Museum of Indian Cinema

The Indian film museum, set in the iconic Kala academy of Goa is designed as a space where the user can come and celebrate Bollywood. The program takes the user through a journey of history of Indian Cinema and connect with all the movies he has seen when he was a kid or heard about from his parents. While walking through all these decades, the user will also see how the iconic movies of history were made. He will look at the scripts, listen to the music, feel the art objects and dance with the choreographers. Once the user enters the museum from the ground floor, he starts his journey with the exhibit areas from the first floor. Following a forced circulation pattern, regulated through a partition system and strategic fire exit points, the user walks through the early, black and white decades of Indian Cinema on the first floor. After looking through this first phase of the museum, he travels to the ground floor via the terraces at the back while appreciating the beautiful view of the Mandovi river. Once at the ground floor, the user enters into the second phase of the museum which is an extravagant space incorporation the ‘golden age’ of Bollywood. This phase incorporates the decades between 1960-1970 and some major film making components like costume design and choreography which make Bollywood as we know it today. The third phase on the ground floor includes the modern decades from 2000-2020 which enrich the user’s understanding of modern Bollywood. Overall, the Indian Film Museum makes the user feel BOLLYWOOD in all its extravagance.
