Glorified Form: Curves And Contours

This vintage car museum celebrates the evolution of automobile sculpted form. Cars have evolved from an open carriage to a monocoque, from the boxy to the bulbous pontons from the smoothly contoured to the angular brawny forms going back to stop again at a worship of the contour. Visitors shall take a passage through the changing physical aesthetics and shapes of vintage cars from the 1910s to the 1970s. This evolution of form was affected by cultural, technological, and societal values, which will be displayed beside the cars on exhibition. The automobile form evokes historical significance and nostalgia and is the first thing recognised. The aesthetics and design values of such old cars is another aspect in the appreciation of the beauty of the car other than the technical. Taking inspiration from decoding the form of vintage cars, the design for the structure and the interiors elements of a vintage car museum, incorporates elements of vintage car design into the spatial concepts. The layout is influenced by the flowing lines in vintage car layout, with curving pathways that guide visitors through various sections creating a sense of exploration. Integrating materials used in vintage car interiors, such as leather, polished wood, and chrome creates an environment that captures the tactile experience of being inside a classic car. The strategy used is an insertion, where like the act of protect vintage cars, an insertion inside the old (site) can help protect the new, store the old (vintage cars).
