More than a Seed

More than a Seed is a seed museum based on the seed layers serving different purposes located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Highlights the value addition of seeds, via extraction, which is different from the given function of lineage succession. Visitors take back the message of being more than what we are. To make a museum more than a museum insertion of secondary programs has also been done that allow visitors to spend more time in museum space. By understanding the site, the insertion of the program with the box-in-a-box adaptive reuse strategy has been done. The spaces have been created by deriving the tectonic language from Braque’s The Musician and Sou Fujimoto's The Cloud.
From Braque concealing revealing and layering have been taken where layering has been integrated in terms of experiences as well as different layers of information and the layers in spaces by varying visual connections that allow interconnection in spaces as per the activity in space. Fujimoto’s skeleton is being used from the scale of the furniture to the support for the entry roof it covers all the scales being used as a display, partition, support, seating, and lighting wherever needed in different forms and scales the module of the grid has been changed and material applications have been done.

The site has a character of its own, where the structure it is heading to be ruined at the same time the new life of greens is reviving, reincarnating the same space.

Although the site has symmetric and repetitive elements all of them together create spaces that have a different character, through light quality in a space and proportions of modules.

Understanding tangibles & intangibles of site, revealing different experiences within existing site. With the amalgamation of built and unbuilt structures.

Layers of seed serving different purposes amalgamation of it with the seed museum's program and adaptive reuse strategy.

Based on narrative + concept artists have been chosen with similar characteristics for deriving tectonic language for museum.

Diriving tectonic language based on artist study & spatial qualities required for the program.

Staggering & concealing reveal through different levels of visual/physical connections spaces have been formulated, by the use of colors and different materials (Extracted items from seed).

Different volumes based on different functions of the spaces have been decided with different surface treatments, making surfaces interactive by creating different experiences.

Insertion of a new program in an existing site, an amalgamation of both allowing different experiences in each space. Pathway connecting all the spaces allows sequential exploration as well as provides choices to experience spaces.

Different elements come together with the memory of old and new functions.
