A living for MEDORAS.

The Medoras, are  a Parsi Family, living in Ahmedabad. Our Studio Project, for this semester focused on designing a residence, for the Medoras. The intent was to design Interiors, considering the cultural aspects of our clients (Parsi culture) and the respective site typology (Jai-Shefali row house). From the material choices, to the interior details along with the spatial flow of the space, everything was orchestrated through a driving Concept. The process of merging Concept , with the clients requirements and living culture, is the key aspect that was explored.

Site, and the way one looks at it, matters a lot. I marked out the following features, which, I thought, can help derive, dynamic experiences.

Concept: Correlational Membrane

Intrepreting, Correlational Membrane, for Interiors. The idea was to incorporate , the membrane between Interior-Interior, using the principles of Interior-Exterior membrane.

Material pallatte, derived through the concept. The material chosen are wood with metal inlay, 3D wall graphics, stucco, rough textured metal, jute fabric, floral embossed wall paper and stone. The materials mentioned here are having a certain texture, hence are helping to relate to the feel easily, rather than being flat..
