CEPT Press Office and Digital Literacy Center for Elders

The studio commenced with the intent of space planning and designing of a major office of the university, i.e., the CEPT University Press. The northern bay of the CEPT Workshop was intended for the given function along with which a digital literacy center for the elders would function in the same bay after the working hours. Hence, the transformation of the spaces was one of the challenges of this project. Various space making elements were used that would provide the space with the dynamic qualities but at the same time transform into the various programmatic occupations. The post office activity was a digital literacy center for the elders conducted by college students. Therefore, the display tables of the Press shop would open up and convert into desks for the elders. The Press office would shut down entirely, only the library would be accessible for public. Learning outcome:- Space planning within an existing built. Changes in space planning with the change in the function.

The concept for the transformation of spaces was folding forms. Therefore, the key element surface folds into different planes to form the different spaces. To give a better visualisation of it, pop-up sections were created showing the planes and the architectural elements.
