The battle of Ceramigon

A 16-weeks long battle with ceramics, restricted to studio processes using terracotta and stoneware. Material compositions and properties were studied, including shrinkage and plasticity control using grog. Clay reclamation was also studied and performed. Hand building techniques were explored included pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Following these building methods, surface decoration was explored using colored slips, engobes, underglazes and overglazes. The final output is twofold: designing a personal 6-piece tableware set and a collaborative group project exploring furniture made entirely from ceramics.
