Frame by Frame

“frame by frame” is a compilation of my work in the studio, Piece of the World under the guidance of Guarav Juyal. I came into this Studio believing it was going to be the one place where I could create animations like I had seen in the animes on my laptop screen. That didn’t happen. What happened was a realization of how much EFFORT and THOUGHT goes into creating an animation, even if it were just a second long. It was a peek into what must go on in professional animation studios. However when I look back at my time here, I do not have any regrets. The studio exposed me to digital and physical mediums of animations along with softwares and introductory skills that would be needed to produce them. Along with this, I was able to refine my drawing and model making skills that I had planned on honing since my first year. What I imagined was a peek into the microscope of creating an animation and what I received was a telescope into the process that precedes it. Our chosen medium of Stop-Motion, is one that required an intensive amount of pre-production while relatively reducing our efforts in handling and learning new softwares. It gave us a literal “hands on experience” with our animation that possibly couldn’t be achieved in digital mediums. Four Months is a quite short time to gain good understanding of what the process for animation is....But they say time is relative, eh?
