Today, due to intake pressure on educational institutions, many of them face shortage of space. In design institutions, where each student needs to have own large table for various purposes like work, storage, model making, referencing and inspiration gallery, all sorts of discussions, providing easily accessible facility becomes a shortcoming. In this scenario, if studios or common areas possess double height, one can expand vertically and use the overhead space. It would enable one to be in vicinity of other colleagues and yet carry out some personal unintrusive activities for users which is a rare scenario in institutions currently. The spaces below such structures would might yet continue to function same as before, hence, a design which would blend in these activities and not bring in major change to functionality would be recommended.
