Shroom Eyewear

Shroom eyewear is the future of vision designed to expand the limits of human perception beyond its natural state by making use of hyperspectral, infrared, and UV vision. To be used by individuals working in waste management and the medical field, the eyewear works to make the invisible light visible in Pirana Landfill of an alternate and augmented Ahmedabad city in 2050. It is made of recycled PET bottles collected from the landfill. To control the landfill expansion, both the public and management need to take action. By situating design processes at the Landfill, interventions such as this Shroom eyewear can greatly improve the efficiency and accuracy of waste segregation, which is essential for proper disposal and recycling. The designed artefacts of this project are directed towards the different professionals involved in and around Pirana landfill. The discourse generated by this project is directed towards audience members of today hoping to sensitize them towards not only the social issue of the landfill but also to generate awareness about the hardships of the poor ragpickers.
