This project explores a bio-inspired approach to sustainable cooling through the design of 3D printed terracotta columns, drawing morphological and functional inspiration from the branching systems of mangrove stems. Much like mangroves adapt to saline, hot, and humid environments by optimizing water transport and airflow, these columns serve as evaporative cooling catalysts, turning structure into a climate-responsive system. Crafted using additive manufacturing techniques, the terracotta columns feature a porous, vascular geometry, mimicking the way mangrove branches bifurcate and interweave.
