Portal 108 (play on Kusama’s use of numeric repetition)

This residential interior design project draws inspiration from the works of Yayoi Kusama, exploring the metaphor of illusion through reflections. The spatial narrative challenges perception by using mirrored surfaces, curved forms, and layered transparencies to blur boundaries between the real and imagined. The design aims to evoke a sense of infinity and psychological depth, encouraging introspection and sensory engagement. Reflections become both a literal and symbolic element, amplifying the experience of space. Rooted in Kusama’s artistic language, the home transforms into a meditative environment where repetition, distortion, and abstraction coalesce to create a surreal and immersive domestic journey.
