Grid Unbound: Piercing The Theatrical Cage

‘Grid Unbound’ is a theatrical space for the production Kafka’s ‘Metamorphosis’. The design is laid out in layers with the outer grid, inner volumes and forms within the volumes on an abandoned stone quarry in Champaner. The vastness of the site’s scale against the designed spaces creates visual tension through contrast where the emphasis goes on the spaces while still getting a sense of the context through the permeability created to the backdrop of the quarry by the smaller objects/props cutting through the larger spaces and the overall openness of the grid structure itself.
