A courtyard is built in hot arid areas where ventilation can occur and less of direct sunlight enters the house. While standing in the court you have the feeling of openness and breathe. There is a contrast from dark to light when you step close to semi-open to open in court. Hence, reflecting all these qualities in the design a court is formed within.
