Incident Management and Bus Maintenance

Incident management and maintenance are two important sectors in a bus transit system. Any type of incidents can have a direct or indirect effect in the operations and if they are not looked into immediately, could lead to damages with serious consequences. Some incidents cause physical damages to the bus and its parts, which is looked into by the maintenance department. The study was focused to improve the existing system through the lens of operations and management services practised within the system by understanding the processes, roles and responsibilities and contractual agreements that regulate the functioning of these two sectors. From data analysis observations were noted, to find if there are any gaps for improvement, and then suggestions were made accordingly. Incident Management Incident management system IMS, a part of ITMS look into major and minor incidents. In major incidents, accidents and breakdown are considered while in minor incidents it looks into driver misbehavior, which is over speeding, harsh breaking, harsh acceleration and skip stops. There's an accident department that look into the major bus accidents or incidents of city buses, that happens on road. There are Accident Inspector's that reach the accident spot and look into the situation. In city bus there are four Accident Inspector's stationed at their main terminal.
