AMTS bus service is a public transport for the citizens of Ahmedabad. For every travel that the citizens made fare was collected by the conductor in the bus in return of a ticket given to the passenger for their travel. Ticket issuing and fare collection play a vital role in order for the system to have efficient and proper operation. In the past to achieve this objective, ticketing system was made simple where manually the tickets were torn for every passenger that boards the bus and the received cash was the kept in the hand bag carried. Later as the population grew there was increase in urban development which led to change in routes and expanding of the system. All these years AMTS has been adapting and incorporating new methods and technologies into its system in order to strengthen it but still has not given up on its traditional method of ticketing that is the manual ticketing system. Its constant attempt to discard the manual ticketing system has failed as the conductors are still not used to the new technology and also because the technology was not designed to cater the maximum passengers. Hence a study was done to understand the existing methods of ticketing which is in the form of manual and digital used by the conductors. Then the types of tickets and passes that are being issued and which technology is being used if any were observed and identified. Later how these methods are being further processed in each department was observed and analysed. Later issues were identified using various Service Operation tools and certain proposals were suggested to be followed in order to make the system more efficient.
