Dharohar - Pol Housing

The Urban Management Foundation Studio focuses on revitalizing Doshiwada ni Pol, a historic urban settlement, by addressing facility management challenges through participatory and sustainable solutions. Located in the heart of Ahmedabad’s old city, Doshiwada ni Pol represents mixed-use typology with residential, commercial, and religious units. The studio project aims to create a replicable model for pol management by integrating community-driven approaches with institutional frameworks, ensuring better infrastructure, effective service delivery, and vibrant cultural engagement for its 134 households. The initiative emphasizes strengthening governance through the formation of Internal Pol Committees (IPC), improving complaint redressal mechanisms, and enhancing the quality of life for residents while preserving the pol’s unique heritage.
