Dharohar - Pol Housing

The Urban Management Foundation Studio (Monsoon Semester 2024) examines POL Housing in Ahmedabad using a Facility Management Framework. Focusing on Doshiwada ni Pol, home to 134 households and 44 heritage structures, the project explores built heritage, occupancy, and community dynamics. Revitalization strategies include restoring heritage gates, unifying signage, and fostering community engagement through libraries and cultural programs. Emphasis is placed on water supply systems, ensuring safe, chlorinated water through improved distribution, storage, and timing. Infrastructure upgrades address fire safety, stormwater drainage, and maintenance. The project aims to preserve cultural heritage while promoting sustainable, cohesive urban development.
