Where Public Life, Leisure, and Mobility Meet

The Intervention began with exploring Jan Gehl’s criteria that are necessary for a good public space. Based on those learnings, key considerations were identified for designing better public spaces in Ahmedabad. Vastrapur and Vasna—were selected for these design interventions. Within these, specific locations were chosen based on building use, existing functions, and observed activities.
The Aim for Vastrapur Lake is to activate the isolated lake by integrating food and recreation, creating a vibrant, accessible public space with cultural events, seating, and visual connectivity.
The aim for Vasna is to pedestrianize the street edge, introducing multifunctional spaces, promoting vibrant public life.
