Surat’s plastic waste management initiative aims to establish a sustainable, circular economy system that drastically reduces plastic pollution and achieves net-zero waste. The project focuses on efficient segregation, decentralized Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), integration of the informal waste sector, and implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). By leveraging digital traceability and promoting community participation, the initiative transforms plastic waste into a valuable resource stream, fostering cleaner urban environments, green employment, and long-term ecological resilience.
