SwissCheese: A project questioning norms of Urban Design

This project is placed in the highly residential area of Ankur Char Rasta in Ahmedabad. The project came with the concept of creating a viable and habitable urban space for the people in a selected plot. I took up an area that was highly residential with a complex tapestry of social relations and interactions. To conserve the pre existing social connections between people and also maximizing the housing and urban space that can be made, a challenging yet interesting vertical development was brought into fruition through a process of elimination.
This play of voids and spaces lends to the name, Swiss Cheese
